National Nurses Week
In recognition of National Nurses week, the students from the Aveda Institute of San Antonio donated their time to the hard working nurses of Northeast Baptist Hospital. The students contributed by providing hand and chair massages for the nurses during their break and shift change.

Your generosity helped make Earth Month 2012 a huge success!
Through your donations to K. Charles & Co. Salons and the Aveda Institutes San Antonio and Corpus Christi, we were able to surpass the amount raised in 2011.
Through you participation in our Walk for Water, Cut-A-Thon’s and your cash donations, $14,593.61 was raised to benefit our regional Earth Month Partners, the Gulf Restoration Network and the Lower Mississippi RiverKeeper.
The Gulf Restoration Network works to protect and restore waters throughout the Gulf of Mexico that are critical to recreation, fisheries, wildlife habitat and drinking water.
The Lower Mississippi Riverkeeper works to protect, preserve and restore the ecological integrity of the Mississippi River Basin which feeds into the Gulf of Mexico.
Additionally, $2,674.80, proceeds from the sale of Aveda’s Light the Way Candles, was donated to the Global Green Grants Fund, Aveda Corporation’s partner since 1999. Global Green Grants is a worldwide organization committed to raising awareness about environmental issues and providing grassroots funding for environmental sustainability across the globe.
My First Week at the Aveda Institute: Intro 1 Dawn
The first week in Intro 1 proved to be very exciting, fun and a slightly overwhelming experience. Everyday thus far has been completely different and very enjoyable. I have completely fallen in love with Aveda and their mission. My class mates are really awesome as well! It is so nice being surrounded by people that have the same interests, goals and that are just as nervous and untrained in Cosmetology as I am. I’m really glad I chose the Aveda Institute; the things I have learned already are mind blowing. I had no idea that so much amazing stuff goes into being an Aveda trained Cosmetologist. I’m really looking forward to learning and experiencing everything during my time here.   -Brooke
It was a great week for me! I was so excited to start my new career path. After a few days in class I was sure I made the right decision to attend the Aveda institute for this major life change. We began with the Aveda products, basics and the best practices, in Cosmetology, regarding sanitation in the workplace. I’m stoked to get onto the floor and start implementing everything I have learned. -Laura
My first week in class was pretty awesome! Apart from all the notes and getting used to being an early bird, everything has been exciting. I have learned so much about Aveda and met so many like minded individuals. The high expectations at this institute have filled me with encouragement and pride.
